Mabugz is a client to search in Bugzilla. It’s specially designed to search in the “maemo” Bugzilla but it’s useful with any other Bugzilla.
Mabugz is written in Python and uses the GTK/Hildon libraries. Mabug also uses the Python interface to Bugzilla, PyBugz. PyBugz is written by Alastair Tse. I modified a bit this library in order that it was working with Python 2.5 and also I fixed some problems that it had with the “maemo” Bugzilla authentification. PyBugz can be used also from the command line.
What functions does present this Mabugz’s version? The first version has few features, practically, what it does is search for a text in the bugs title and shows a list with the search results. Of these results, you can get the entire bug text and its comments. Also you can fix few filters before realizes the search, as Status, Severity, Priority, etc.
For example, you can try Mabugz with the “maemo” Bugzilla, using the following address https://bugs.maemo.org and your user and password in the preferences dialog. You remember that in the “maemo” Bugzilla you will have to be registered to be able to realize searches. Also you can try Mabugz with the Gnome Bugzilla using this address: http://bugzilla.gnome.org, you don’t need user neither password for do a search in this case.
Some screenshot:
To use Mabugz in the N800 you will need Python2.5, if you don’t have it installed already, what waits!
You can follow the instructions in the pymaemo page: Python Installation.
Then, you can install Mabugz packages in its project page: https://garage.maemo.org/projects/mabugz/
I haven’t verified if it works in 770 yet, but it should work without problems.
As any application, Mabugz has its problems, especially when the developer is not a developer ![]()
Specially, these problems concern the presentation of the bug text:
- If in the comments, there is some character that there doesn’t like to Pango Markup Language, the text is not formatted.
- If there is very much text in the bug comments (or many commentaries), the bug window can turn a bit slow.
- In this bug window there is a blank space at the bottom.
I am looking for a better way of presenting the bugs, so I hope that these problems are eliminated of this form or but I will look for another solution for them.
It’s sure that Mabugz has other bugs that I haven’t detected, so if you find anyone, please, report it in project page in the garage: https://garage.maemo.org/projects/mabugz. Also if you find some Bugzilla that doesn’t work, please report it.
Also it’s necessary for doing an icon that I haven’t had time to prepare, if someone wants to do an icon for the application it will be welcome.
In next versions, I will add other functions that Pybugz supports, as be able to send new bugs, modify existing bugs, add or download attachments, etc.
